They’re known as “classes” and you’ll notice one class is usually pretty big (Class A) while another is usually pretty small (Class B).

What Are They?
If you’re looking for a more technical definition of Class C motorhomes, then check out their chassis. You’ll probably notice the front part looks a lot like a truck, which is their defining feature. They’re built on a truck-style chassis and you’ll often find an overhanging section of living or storage space above the cab. There are more generalized differences that we go into below, but they’re not quite the same for all models, so this is the only surefire way to spot one of these rigs.
How Big Are They?
For the most part, Class C motorhomes are going to be the middle ground when it comes to size, usually hovering around 25-30 feet in length. They’ll be bigger than the Class B vans and smaller than the giant Class A models. This can be a great compromise for families. You won’t have to pay top dollar, but you’ll still get all the space and amenities you need to keep your fellow campers happy and relaxed. However, there are bigger models known as Super Cs that give you even more room if you’re still feeling a bit cramped.
How Much Do They Cost?
As you can probably guess, their size is part of the reason why Class C motorhomes are one of the cheaper options for bigger camping parties. But in general, these rigs are incredibly affordable, especially when you compare them to the far more expensive Class A motorhomes. Often, it means a difference of tens of thousands of dollars. This will depend on how new the rig is and how luxurious it is, but if you’re looking to save money, this is the place to start.
Are They Easy To Use?
Yes! Class C motorhomes can also be a lot easier for some owners to drive. This is because they behave similarly to your average commuter vehicle. They’re going to have a similar center of gravity, the pedals will be in roughly the same places, and the brakes are similar to commuter brakes.
Basically, the only obstacle you’re going to need to overcome is figuring out how to handle the size of the rig. You’ll also be less pressed to find a campsite that has enough room for you, as Class C motorhomes aren’t usually so big that they need special accommodations. And on top of all this, they’re easier to maintain because of their smaller size and simpler construction.
