Easy Homemade BBQ
Ingredients:
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
- 1-1/2 pounds pork tenderloin, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
- 3 medium green peppers, chopped
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 12 sandwich buns (hoagie, brioche, sesame seed, etc.)
- Your preferred sandwich toppings (onions, pickles, cole slaw, etc.)
Kitchen tools needed:
- Slow cooker (5 quarts or bigger)
- Slow cooker liner
- Cutting board
- Sharp knife
- Wooden spoon
Directions:
- First, grab that liner and place it in the slow cooker. These make clean up so easy – I don’t use my slow cooker without them!
- Add the first six ingredients into the slow cooker, stirring gently to combine.
- Add in the cubed meats and chopped peppers and onions, stirring again to cover with the sauce mixture.
- Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook for 6 hours on low heat.
- Shred the meat with two forks and serve on buns with the toppings you like.
If you want to make this even easier, combine all the ingredients ahead of time in a gallon-size food storage bag. Lay flat to freeze. On the day you plan to enjoy it, simply pull the bag from the freezer and slide the contents into the slow cooker.
